Strawberry Bliss
Strawberry Bliss
My aqua collection of fruit and veg paintings just wasn’t complete without a trio of bright, red strawberries. Painting strawberries is a great exercise in color theory. Because the “local” color is an intense red, mixing color for the highlight and direct light without cooling the color temperature too much is the primary challenge. Subtle shifts in color temperature help communicate the berries’ form; and sneaking purples into the core shadows and cast shadows gives the piece a playful edge.
