Pear Blush Series

The challenge in painting this series of pears was reconciling the dramatic change in local color between standard pear yellow-green and the bright red patch of sun-ripened skin in these elegant specimens. The exciting pinks, oranges, and reds that emerged from this exercise are what make these little life paintings in my opinion. And after experiencing these pear colors, I don’t think I’d be interested in painting an all yellow-green pear ever again. :)
