Avocado Connection Series

The challenge in painting this series of avocado halves was to make an essentially flat subject look interesting as well as to design 3 different compositions that look good together. I wanted them to function well as a series, and that turned out to be tougher than I expected. There are after all only so many interesting ways you can arrange avocado halves on a vertical 5”x7” canvas, and I think I’ve about covered them all. LOL! The pop of burnt orange the avocado pit allowed me to introduce to the color range is probably my favorite feature of these paintings. That...and the buttery, yellow-green flesh lent itself well to loaded brush strokes-my fave!
